TANG

Tang fish have sharp spines on their sides of their tails called scalpels. W hen threatened they will thrash their tails in defense. The most famous Tang fish is Dory from Finding Nemo. She is a Royal Blue Tang. There are roughly seventy-five different species of Tang.

To tell if a Tang is female or male, check the scales surrounding the scalpel. If the scales are raised, it’s a male. If smooth, the Tang is a female.

Tangs play an important role in their habitat. As herbivores, they help control populations of aquatic plants and algae.
