LEOPARD FROG

LITHOBATES PIPIENS

The Leopard Frog is a medium-sized amphibian known for its green or brown skin covered in dark spots, giving it a “leopard-like” appearance. Adults typically reach 2–4 inches in length and are active both day and night, feeding on insects, spiders, and other small invertebrates.

Leopard Frogs prefer wet habitats like ponds, marshes, and stream edges. They are excellent jumpers and swimmers, using their powerful legs to escape predators quickly. When threatened, they may inflate their bodies or leap away to safety.

Despite their camouflage and agility, Leopard Frogs are often admired for their bright eyes and spotted patterns.

Did you know?

Leopard Frogs can breathe through their skin as well as their lungs, which helps them stay underwater for extended periods.
