Electric eels can grow up to 8 feet long! They are nocturnal creatures and are most active at night even though they have extremely poor eyesight.
Electric eels can generate an electrical charge of up to 600 volts in order to stun prey and keep predators at bay.

Their scientific name, Electrophus, comes from a Greek phrase which translates to “Electricity bearer.”
